What does REDgen stand for?
Resilience EDucation for the next generation
Our Story
In the summer of 2013, several suicides affected families in the North Shore of Milwaukee. At that time, Abe and Beverly Goldberg lost their thirteen-year-old daughter, Abby. A group of us, including the Goldbergs, met to discuss how we could create a safety net for youth and prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. Today, REDgen is focused on prevention, specifically learning from accredited clinicians and researchers that impactful prevention starts with building resilience.
With countless hours of research behind us, we believe that our greatest opportunity to support this mission is through our evidence-based peer-to-peer program. This school-based model continues to empower young people to build resilience skills and support each other.
Currently, we have 32 REDgen School chapters throughout Wisconsin and one in the city of Chicago. Each chapter is a beacon of hope and support, creating a community of care where students can thrive. In partnership with our amazing REDgen student leaders, we envision a world where every young person feels safe and welcomed. A world where connections flourish, conversations are normalized, and mental well-being is promoted every single day.
We exist to improve youth mental well-being and to empower youth to make connections and seek help as needed.
